The Benin Monarch frowns at display of political hooliganism by EDHA
The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’oba Oba Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare the second has frowned at the display of political hooliganism and barbarism by members of Edo State House of Assembly during its recent leadership change in the parliament.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, Desmond Agbama says though the Oba is not against leadership change but expressed concern over the manner the leadership change is carried out as such is capable of negating the interest of the people.
The Benin Monarch, who watched with great disappointment the throwing of chairs and use of fisticuff among the legislators said it does not portray them as honorable members as it is a sign of desperation for power.
Oba Ewuare the Second advised the lawmakers to always apply caution and democratic means and observe the rule of law during change of leadership in order to show good leadership example to the people they represent.
