It goes without saying that Niniola is one of the top music acts working in Africa today. After being criminally-underrated for years, Nigerians and the rest of the world finally caught up to her music when she released the infectious, “Maradona”.
Following the success of her debut album, This Is Me, Niniola successfully took her music across Nigeria’s borders, scoring solid features with South African acts like Busiswa and DJ Maphorisa. She also received airtime overseas leading to DJ Snake’s refix of her smash hit, “Maradona”.

If we needed more proof that the afro-house queen is a force to reckon with, Timbaland’s comments on her latest single, “Designer” just emphasized that fact. We’ve said it before that African music and culture are finally gaining much-deserved global recognition. Given how recent chart-topping pop songs are heavily influenced by afrobeat, it’s no surprise that Timbaland discovered and enjoyed Niniola’s music.

Nevertheless, this goes to show that the producer has great taste in music and hopefully, we would get a collaborative track from these two in the future.
